Title: Looking at Schedules Direct.. JRiver is not a supported App...
Post by: amcneish on February 04, 2017, 01:24:54 am
With the recent ROVI issues...  I was thinking about moving over to Schedules Direct as an alternative...  But they only sign up people who are using non-commercial software... and JRiver is not listed....

Schedules Direct is listed in the mc2cml pop up....

Am I missing something??

mc2xml is a generic tool to download guide data into a standardized XML format, its not specifically designed just for JRiver Media Center, so it supports a variety of services.

I understand that PercData is the commercial version...  are all the kinks worked out with it???

I do not remember... is it an option for mc2xml...  ??

Is it a good replacement for ROVI??

Sorry for all these novice questions....  I am nervous that the ROVI issue will not be fixed by Monday....

Thank you for your help....

PercData doesn't support JSON so it's not a good as Schedules Direct (with JSON).
Schedules Direct is not allowed to sell for use with a "commercial" product like MC, but that doesn't mean you can't get it and use it with MC. Just don't tell SD your plans.

There are installation instructions at the top of the forum (See USA TV setup) around post 13 for basic instructions if needed. But in summary you download "mc2xml" program and run it through MC (or you can use Windows Task Scheduler) then the SD guide data is downloaded and you import it into MC.

I ended up with PercData...  It seems to work well.. and turned out very easy to setup...

I did not feel comfortable violating the Schedules Direct rules...

Thanks for all the help
