Title: JRiver is crashing constantly
Post by: EfeTe on February 17, 2017, 11:19:58 pm
I'd appreciate any help / guidance.

Purchased JRMC22 when it came out, been using it with my old (2009?) MacBook Pro until tonight no issues. Not one.

Now I cannot even start the program. You hit the icon and it gives you an Error message, not even the layout is there all there is is the Error message saying MC is not working, asks me to try and reopen -which I do but to no avail. Then it says a message reporting this has already been sent to Apple :(

Don't know how to get it back to work -I am zero computer literate so any help is very much welcome guys!  ?

Which version of OSX do you have on there? We require 10.7 and 64-bit at least these days, and a 2009 device might just fall before that, but I'm not sure.

Since you say it just broke tonight, did anything change? Did you update MC?

Try powering the machine down and pull the plug, then power it back up.

Try reinstalling MC.

No nothing changed and I did not update MC. Has always been the same machine and it had been working a treat every day from the moment I acquired JRMC22.

Odd...

My Spidey Sense says that Hendrick is right and this older machine is running OSX 10.6 or below *AND* MC auto updated it self to the latest version, which no longer supports OSX below 10.7.

In which case I'm doomed, Brian aren't I? :(

The reason I'm using this old Mac is it was specifically dedicated to my audio room. It would be a pity if I had to get a new Mac just to have MC running again.

You're not doomed.  You'd just need to install a previous build of MC that was made before they changed to "10.7+ only".  22.0.43 should still work with OSX 10.6 .

But you haven't answered the question:  What version of OSX are you running?  What version of MC is installed?

Apple > About this Mac
MC > Help > About Media Center

In addition to what Brian said, you should disable automatic updates as well or else this could and likely would happen again.

No joy :(

My version is MC 22, and the OS is an old 10.6.7

What is the full version.  Read above for a version that would work.

The latest version of MC22 does no longer support OSX 10.6, starting with 22.0.54 - so you need something before that.
The most recent released version that still has 10.6 support is this one: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,108178.0.html (22.0.43)

Thanks guys.

Think I'll format everything, and go for a newer OS so I can have the latest iteration of Media Center.
