Title: Glitches on USB playback
Post by: magicLX521.com on February 22, 2017, 10:32:19 am
After having installed Id in my playback system, I m about to start to like the device in the playback chain... except for some nasty gliches, that appear ,
no matter what sample rate is played from SSD. LAN connected.

The USB- device (an AFI-USB reclocker, followed by a DSP/DAC) is currently plugged to one of Id s front plugs.
ID recognizes the device on CARD1 as "J20" with the name "JLsounds Hi-Rez audio 2.0"

In "output devices" , there appear serveral "J20" choices.

Even choosing front=CARD J20 does not prevent playback glitches , especially audible when music is low...

Maybe a driver problem or did I choose a wrong setting?

Thanks
Frank

If you're playing from a USB drive, and it's a USB 3.0 drive, then it needs to be plugged into a USB 3.0 port.

What happens if you plug the DAC in directly?

HI Jim

The DSP/DAC alone seems not to work at front USB.

I get DSP/DAC playing on the upper rear USB, with "output device" set to iec958:CARD=DAC...,
no glitches.

Connecting the reclocker "J20" to the same rear output , "output device" set to iec958:CARD=J20...
brings an overall more pleasant sound, but the glitches are here again...

Best

Title: SOLVED: Glitches on USB playback

The USB part of AFI reclocker draws ca 500mA from the connected USB port

But its allows to feed 5V DC/500mA  externally.

That did the trick. The USBplug on the Id seemed to be unhappy delivering 500mA.
