Title: What is a good way to add information about an album's cast?
Post by: Antognini on March 06, 2017, 11:11:05 pm
I'm thinking of adding information about an album's cast -- in the case of operas, musicals and suchlike. I guess I'll have to enter it manually. What is a good way of arranging such information? I'd like it to appear in JRemote, if possible. A quick glance at the available tags didn't produce any obvious choices.

there is no such thing as "available tags".  you can make any tags viewed in either MC or JRemote by customising a view, and you can make any custom tags you like that make sense to you.

of course, if you have a lot of information (either in one field like notes, or in many custom fields) how you can see them may be not ideal just due to space restrictions on the screen etc. but i'm sure there is a way to get close

Tools>Options>Library & Folders>Manage Library Fields

Box comes up, "Add New Field" button at bottom.  Fill in boxes as you like.

Under "Data"
Data Type: List semicolon delimited)
Relational: Not relational (store one value for each file)
Edit Type: Standard
Acceptable Values:  Leave Blank
Check the box to "Save in file tags (when possible)

Now it should show up under your tags and you can manually edit separating persons by a semi-colon.  You can later create a View/Expression that will cross reference cast members / artists who show up in more than one file.
