I spend quite a bit of my time with MC compiling playlists. It would be very nice to have a window or pane that showed a particular playlist whilst simultaneously the rest of MC allowed browsing of the library.
The ability to then drag from the library to the playlist would mean that the selection and ordering of tracks could be done in a single pass.
Perhaps something of this sort can already be done ?

This may happen someday.
Until then, use the "Drop Target" or the File Properties -> Playlist pane.
They both offer a quick way to build a playlist.

We've been asking for this (split screen) for ages.
As yet though none of us have got round to slipping Matt the bribe so I think he's waiting for us to do it :)
Search the forum for split screen and u should find tons of stuff :)
That was the closest we've had to any suggestion of it happening though so far :)

There are certianly ways to drag-n-drop to a playlist (about four that I can think of) but none will allow you to ararnge the sequence of playback .. only a splitscreen would do that ...
1) Use a Library View Scheme with Playlist as on of the view panes ...
2) Use the Drop Target
3) Use the Playlist tree
4) I forget, but there is a right click option and Im too lazy to go find it ... like Send To ..
5) Oh yeah ... you can open the properties window and put it on playlist and use the checkboxes

<nila>mmmm.................., *drooling lots and lots*, drag to burner, browsing library while viewing playing now, .....mmmmmm</nila>

When I think of splitscreen I imagine it like the File Info region, with a dropdown to select the contents. And then I weep ;)
