Title: Annoying bug in Theatre View (solved)
Post by: magnust on March 20, 2017, 09:17:12 am
I've just upgraded from MC20 to MC22 but now have a problem that didn't exist in MC20:

- Running Media Center 22.0.81 in Theater View
- Have "Enter key action" set to "Show Menu"

When I navigate with the remote to a music item and hit ok (=enter) the menu pops up as it should. But if I'm not fast enough to choose an item in the menu with my arrow keys (and hit ok again) the focus pops back to the list of music items. This means that when I am to slow, the next time I push an arrow key to navigate in the pop up menu I instead suddenly navigate in the list of music items "behind" the pop up menu. If I then hit ok I get a second pop up menu. And another and another... if I'm not fast enough to hit ok before focus moves away from the pop up menu.

This was not the behaviour in MC20. The WAF quickly dropped from great to almost useless.... HELP!!!

Mapping of the enter key may not be a good solution.  As you must know, Theater View can be used without any key mapping.

I have no keys mapped. Just a standard wmc remote plugged in and go. Sorry if I made this unclear.

Try this:

- Set to Theater view.

- Navigate to any item, hit enter on your keyboard. The pop up menu appears.

- Use up or down arrows on keyboard.

- Once a menu item has shown a sub menu, "stand still" on any item (still in the main pop up menu) for a second or two. Then use up or down keys again.

"Theater View" Users don't typically have a keyboard attached.

The behavior is identical with keyboard or remote control. Please test this.

I don't get a menu (on a keyboard) by hitting Enter.  I do get one when I right click.  But then everything works.

I think I maybe reproduced this.  When we'd show a submenu and hide the submenu, we wouldn't shift the focus back to the parent menu.  Instead it would drift back to the Theater View list.  So let's hope it's put to bed in 22.0.95 and later.
