I have been purchasing JRiver licenses for a few years and many things have bugged me about the product but I kept paying for upgrades. Now I am done and for the following reasons. Uninstalling it for ever and never recommending to anyone again.
- While upgrading all folder settings have to be redone manually
- All settings are lost on upgrades
- There are no in place upgrades i.e. software is not smart enough to update files
- For the last two versions there is a new issue with windows version where the "folder read only errors appear". I cannot change folders.
- Half the time connecting my BT headphone to the computer does not work properly
- The software takes days to pick up album coverart
- Interface is old and tired
- Even the interface to pick up folders does not work properly. for each fodler I have to navigate the entire structure. I cannot copy folder path directly in the text box above the folder tree.
No new features for someone who just wants a decent music player. So I done with it.

Not posting this for the benefit of bcrier, since I am taking him at his word that he has uninstalled and moved on. I am posting this for anyone else who may be frustrated with trying to use MC.
If you feel any of these items (apart from the interface comment) are problems for you, I would suggest that you are:
(a) doing something wrong,
(b) failing to take advantage of the amazing community on the forum to help you get the use you want from the software, and/or
(c) blaming MC for problems in Windows or other software.
As for the interface complaints, if you have specific suggestions the developers would love to hear them. There is usually a pretty lively debate when these come up with users both praising and panning aspects of the current UI, but when it makes sense changes do get made.

bcrier,
I could find no license for the e-mail address you've used on the forum.
These two (at least) are Windows problems:
For the last two versions there is a new issue with windows version where the "folder read only errors appear". I cannot change folders.
- Half the time connecting my BT headphone to the computer does not work properly
I'm sorry you feel like we're not doing our job.

Simple, import a settings backup from the previous MC version into the new MC version. Problem solved!
- Interface is old and tired
If you mean Standard View, give one of the ModernCards skins a go, especially if you're on Windows 8 or 10.

I would have to agree with some other people here. I have not noticed any of the problems you have experienced and I have been using MC since about 2001. Updates always work and I never lose settings. You must be doing something wrong or your computer is "wonky".
Sorry to see you go
I should mention that my library currently consists of a little over 65,000 songs all ripped in FLAC and housed on a 2 TB external drive.

A better idea might have been to use one's first post to ask questions to solve the issues mentioned, rather than to say hello-goodbye after years of silent suffering.

I have seen issues with updates, specifically 'annual' major version (eg 20 to 21) rather than the regular minor ones, where settings don't automatically get carried over and a restore has to be done. I have a feeling it's related to fact the account I use to run MC is an ordinary 'user' account on Windows rather than an 'administrator'. I'm not 100% that's the cause but when I upgraded to v22 from v21 I got a complete 'virgin' install with absolutely no settings copied over. Wasn't the end of the world but the upgrade was a little fraught and took more effort that I expected to get everything back to how it was.

If that happens again, just restore a backup from the previous version. Read carefully when you do. Settings are not restored unless you choose that option.
