Title: JRiver 22 crashing on ripped DVDs
Post by: PGibby on March 24, 2017, 04:46:06 pm
Something has changed, and I havent been able to figure it out. I tried MC 21 as well, and it does the same thing. I've attached the log file. I don't have the issue in Kodi, so I've got it isolated to JRiver.

Any help would be great...thanks!

As a follow up, it is also crashing on attempting to play a DVD disc too. Hhmmm

If you are using Windows 10, make sure to install the latest Windows updates. Microsoft broke DVD playback in an previous update, and fixed it in the update from this week.

As a side note, the DVD structure is the least flexible way to store video.  Ripping that structure to MKV gives you a lot of advantages:  No encryption.  No need to navigate menus.  No forced trailers or other garbage.  No special software to interpret DVD structures.  It all just works with most players.

Just a little info.

Brian.

That windows update fixed it! Thanks!

Yea, I've actually been slowly converting all to mkv, and was about halfway done. Much better to delete all the junk.
