Title: JRemote 3.25 not advancing tracks
Post by: RolandG on April 17, 2017, 04:18:04 am
Hi all,

strange little problem here:

I stream into a Auralic Aries Mini (spotty history of UPnP implementation, I know). If I do this from JRiver 22 for Mac, tracks advance. If I use JRemote 3.25, tracks do not advance, but the same track is repeated. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether "Disable SetNext Support" is checked or not in the DLNA Controller Options for the Aries Mini.

Has anybody else run into this problem?

UPDATE:
Now the problem seems to have gone away after changing the buffer times in JRiver. Will investigate further.

What did you change them to?
If it takes more than 5 seconds after the play command is sent until the track starts playing on the renderer  (and it reports proper position) you may have trouble.

I recently installed MC22 for Mac and it worked well at first but has stopped advancing to the next track, whether using the desktop or JRemote 3.25.  I tried installing the latest version, 22.108 and the problem persists.  I'm using JRiver in DLNA mode.  I will appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Just to the right of the playback time bar is the repeat setting.
With the DLNA zone you are concerned with selected, check that setting. It should be set to "Repeat off"
If that's not the issue, right click on the DLNA zone you are working on and there will be DLNA controller options. Selecting that, click on "Disable SetNext Support"
Try the test again.

The second item may have resolved the issue.  Will test further to make sure.  Thanks very much!

I tried clicking "Disable SetNext Support" under DLNA media controller options and it worked for a couple of tracks but got stuck again.  I unchecked it and the same thing happened.  Any other suggestions?

Try to get it going without JRemote first.

There are similar settings for the server in MC (Setnext).  Restart both sides after any change.

I tried restarting without JRemote, with and without SetNext and nothing seems to work.  I went back to MC19 just to see if it may be something else and it works fine.

Starting with MC 20 at some point we started doing a status check of the device before getting position using a call which is required to be supported by the uPnP spec.
It sounds to me like your device firmware is broken.

Andrew's DMR tester (search for it in the DLNA forum) would likely tell you if that's the case.

Is there a Mac version?  It looks like a Windows program that won't run on OSX

It is only available for Windows.

I made a guess and did a test build.
I'll send you a PM, check your messages, try it out and let us know if there is any difference.
