I have a set of MP3's (VBR) that I wanted to convert to WMA format to put on my Nomad MuVo (don't care so much about quality, wanted to save space). But MC9 won't do it. Every time, it acts like it is converting, and then at the end of going through every song, it says "Failed to Convert", but does not give me any indication why. I ended up using some Audio Converter that came with Windows Media Player, but it doesn't give me much flexibility.
Shouldn't this work? Do I need a plug-in or something? Is there some trick I'm missing?

When I tried this (... converting a MP3 to WMA for a friend ...), it didn't work either ... BUT, I did get a message implying I needed the WMP9 plugin. There is a WMP plugin implied at the MC DL site, but that didn't work either. Not until I installed WMP9 from the Microsoft wwwsite, did it work properly. 13Mb for just a WMA codec ... not worth it in my opinion, but may be for you.

I tried this last night. I went from MP3 at 320kbps to WMA at 96kbps.
I worked fine with no problems.
However I do have wm9 installed, maybe that's why?

WEll, I've got WMP9 installed and have the latest version of the plug-in, I checked. Still doesn't work. Does the fact that the current versions were all ripped at VBR have anything to do with it?
-
More details might help. Version of MC? Bitrates?
It should work fine. VBR is not a problem.
-
Bitrates vary, right? 'Cause I'm using VBR. Usually in the 190+ range, though.
Here's my info:
