Title: MC 9.1.212b - Malicious Script detected?
Post by: Rizlaw on July 10, 2003, 09:29:05 am
A question for the JRiver boys.

After installing MC 9.1.212 beta, Everytime I close down MC9.1.212, the following Norton AV2003 "Alert: Malicious Script detected" dialog pops up. The contents of the dialog state the following:

--------------------------------------------------------
Object: Windows Script Host Shell Object
Activity: RegWrite
Your computer is halted and needs to do something about this script.
File: Media Judkebox.exe
What do you want to do?
Action: here I have several choices; 1. stop script, 2. allow activity once, 3. allow entire script once, 4. authorize script.
------------------------------------------------------------

Since I don't have MJ8 installed, I am wondering:

(1) why am I suddenly getting this AV alert with MC 9.1.212 (that I didn't get with MC 9.0.180; and
(2) should I be worried or should I just authorize the script so that the warning doesn't appear anymore? I assume JRiver hasn't introduced a virus or Trojan into the software.

Running XP PRO SP1. MC9 is also set to run media server on port 8080 (but unchecking this doesn't alter alert message).

lol.
Dont worry about it - the plugins usually make it do this and it's not a problem.

Just choose 'acept always' and live on happily :)

Just another example of the cure being worse than the disease.
