Title: Promoting Dr. Who
Post by: marko on May 10, 2017, 12:24:58 pm
If marko uploads to Doctor Who (part of MC, under Playlists), you could download.

Evening Jim, I would, but it's too much hassle... Why?

and it really, really needs to seamlessly integrate with MC without bugging me for a username and password when I try to use it.

Just had another look at Dr Who and had to go back to the sticky post in the V 21 forum to remember how to use it.

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,97994.0.html (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,97994.0.html)

Had to reset my password as I'd forgotten it. Come on JRiver the password reset it done over http!!! >:(

Security 101 is not to do authentication over http.
The forum still authenticates over http too as it doesn't redirect to https.

I tried to share my 'Utility' views with Dr Who but couldn't work out how to do it so gave up. . . Can any one remember how it's done?

Edit:
Found it it's under customise view | Save View | 'Also save to shared views server'.
I was expecting to mention Dr Who in there somewhere. . .

Customise current view > down the bottom of middle panel > Save This View > place tick in "also save on server"

Note, if you've already saved the view locally, this will create a duplicate local copy, with a "(1)" at the end of the filename that you will need to go and delete manually.

.............

and if some time passes before you use it again, and you have to login again.... Am I alone in feeling that there are too many speed bumps here? Especially if you get all the way to "save the view" only to be told you're not logged in!

Thanks for that, just found it now. I was expecting a right click 'send to' option or some sort of drag and drop. It's certainly a lot of clicks to get there and I'm not sure it's worth it at the moment, but I do try and do my bit  :)

Evening Jim, I would, but it's too much hassle... Why?

  • It won't remember my password, even if I tick the "Remember Me" box, and I can't remember it, and I've reset it at least twice now because of that, and now, can't really be bothered any more, mostly due to the hoops outlined below...
  • Also save on the server? This would be great, but, I'm not signed in, so it tells me, and asks if I want to sign in... I say "Yes". My view is now replaced by a web page, which would allow me to log in, but I can't, because the 'customise' dialogue is still open, in order to sign in, I would need to close the dialogue, log in (if I could only remember what the password was) then navigate back to the view, open the customise dialogue again, and try saving again, which also creates a second, local JVI file in the saved views folder, with a "(1)" at the end of the filename. It really needs a "Save Locally", "Save on server", "Save on both" set of options.

and it really, really needs to seamlessly integrate with MC without bugging me for a username and password when I try to use it.

I would have to agree. It's also very messy to use someone's playlist. Would be a great feature if it were a bit more streamlined. I have went so far as to remove it from my options.

The forum should be https now.  Do you have a link that won't redirect?

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?action=login

Takes me to

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php

After I login.

The http login page is taking me to the site accessed over http. Can you not redirect/rewrite all http requests to https in your load balancer or whatever you front your web server with?.

This page http://www.jriver.com/support.html
has a http link to the forum
