Title: Space bar as a pause is a major problem....
Post by: Dawgincontrol on May 16, 2017, 12:59:42 pm
If I do a search and type in anything with a space, whatever is playing stops.

For example, making a new playlist and going through song titles, listening to music while doing so is rendered useless.

Adding songs to "Playing Now" same problem.

Please make the spacebar mute when typing.  If it was shift/space or something similar there would be no problem.

The way it is now is making me sad.  Let not sadness prevail.

This is a known issue and will hopefully be fixed in an upcoming build.

I've had the same experience, an oops moment. But... It is a tough trade-off because Space Bar as pause/resume is common in many audio/video apps, where it is very helpful. We all prefer what we are used to and find convenient.

Ideally, MC would recognize typing, such as when focus is on a field that is in edit mode, and in that condition apply Space Bar to typing not the Player. Then when edit mode is exited, switch Space Bar back to controller the Player. This behavior is what I find in other apps.

Also, when editing a list-type field, I think Space Bar should select/unselect (check/uncheck the boxes) list items, so using the mouse is not required. (Enter exits the field).

Plan B would be that Space Bar in MC can be user-configurable as desired.

I agree with MusicHawk, ideal would be to conserve the industry-wide behavior of pausing on space except when focus is on a text entry box.

Thats how its supposed to work, but it was broken in the last couple builds. There will be a new version to fix this "soon", its already in testing now.
