Title: Can't get 192kHz playback
Post by: Larry Dickman on May 16, 2017, 11:15:46 pm
Audeze Deckard headphone amp/dac connected to PC via usb. Usb is the only digital input on the Deckard, so it's not an issue, as with some dacs, that only an Optical or Coax connection will play 192. Here the usb does.

I am presented with the following choices for Audio Device:

Audeze (ASIO)
XMOS USB Audio (WASAPI)
Audeze Audio Output (Kernel Streaming)
XMOS USB Audio (Direct Sound)

Note: XMOS is the driver supplied by Audeze.

None of these choices plays back at 192. it will downsample to 96.

What could be the problem?

Edited to add: Yes in windows it is set to allow applications (i.e. JRiver) to take exclusive control of the device)

Thank You

Take a look at the Output Format in DSP Studio:

Player > DSP Studio > Output Format > Sample Rate

You'll see a table of input sample rates to output sample rates.  I *think* by default it might be mapping all higher sample rates down to 96kHz.  Look a the line for 192 and see if it's set to "no change", or 96k, or something else.  Set it to No Change, at that should send 192k as is to your DAC.

Good luck.

Brian.

YOU DID IT!!

By default the highest output was 96kHz.

I set all inputs up to 192kHz to "No change"

Inputs above 192kHz I set to 192kHz output as the Audeze dac can only play those on a MAC.

Thank you!!!!!

You're welcome.  Glad I could help out.  :)
