Title: Multiple Artists Album
Post by: edwarduk on May 24, 2017, 07:39:25 pm
How do I ensure that an album with multiple artists appear as a complete album (in the various default album views) rather than separate albums?

Believe me I spent quite some time trying this out and still don't get it.

I have one album with about 70 tracks all of which are in one folder.  When selecting all the tracks and viewing the Tags the "Album" tag is unique (i.e. it is the same for all tracks), the "Album type" shows "multiple artists (complete)" - as expected and most of the other tags as expected show [Varies].

So far as I can see I have met all the conditions as outlined in the following KB - https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Multiple_Artist_Albums (https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Multiple_Artist_Albums)

And yet the album still shows as separate albums within MC

I'm losing hair on this - particularly as I suspect it is something simple I'm missing.

cheers

Edit the Album Artist tag.

Thanks Jim

For the sake of completeness (in case someone else treads here) this is what I have now done to make it work.

Delete/blank  the "[Varies]" value in the "Album Artist" field.  This results in the "Album Artist (auto)" field to be automatically populated by the value of "(Multiple Artists)".

Not immediately intuitive but does get me there.

Hi

As long as Album Artist is one value across all tracks it will work

Various and Various artists are the default recognized values as far as I know

Album artist auto generates Multiple Artists if individual track Artists are not all the same
