He probably returned from a long holiday in Southern France dead tired, so that he just gave a quick glimpse at Interact and went straight to bed!
-
He was here long enough to lock a thread, I noticed. :P
Apparently I wasn't doing a good enough job keeping the peace. ;)
-
Not sure he his back.
On solid ground only maybe
-
I know he is not back.
But i let him to tell you in the next coming days....
-
Hello again.
I'm not back, but I'm on solid ground again and glad of it. I'm in Paris for a few days, but last week and the week before I was sailing with three younger Dutchmen who were luckily much better sailors than I am.
We sailed from Den Helder, near Amsterdam, with 40 other sailboats doing the Driehoek Nordsee, or North Sea Triangle. It isn't a race, but more of an endurance contest. 22 boats finished the first leg -- I'm not sure how many finished the other two legs.
We went NNW 500 nautical miles (about 600 statute miles) to the Shetland Islands, and stayed for two nights in a village called Lerwick. Then we sailed 270 nautical miles ESE to the southern tip of Norway, and stayed two nights in a town called Farsund. Then 330 miles more back to Holland.
I was glad to step ashore. I think it was the most physically and mentally demanding thing I've ever done. Big waves, storms, big ships passing in the dark with little visibility, a bouncing, jarring ride much of the time, and not much space with four people on a 36 foot boat.
Next time I'm going sailing in the Bahamas, where you can sail 3 or 4 hours, drop your anchor and jump in the water for a swim.
I've got some pictures I'll post when I'm back. Right now I'm going for a walk in the park.
Hope everyone's had a nice weekend.
Jim

Woah,
If I said I was jealous that'd be an understatement.
Sounds lilke a GREAT trip.
I'm sure your sick of the sailing to some extent but I'm sure you'd also agree it was an experience of a lifetime.
Wanna try do it in mine :)

Sounds lilke a GREAT trip.
I would be sick from the first min on the boat
I prefer something under my feet
Now Jumping from a plane is ok (AirBorne)
-
Yeah - I went sky diving a couple of months back.
It was alot of fun I have to admit.
Something I always wanted to be able to say I'd done.
Not as scarey or as much of a rush as I'd hoped.
I wanna get certified so I can do bass jumping like the guys in cliff hanger - now that would be a mad rush.
-
>> bass jumping
well I have over 165 Combat Equip Static Line Jumps, but base jumping and all that is a bit much for me.
Maybe if i was younger.
-
wow, I'm impressed King, :)
Bass jumping I just reckon would be THE rush.
I'm still chasing it. Not sure when I'll find it.
Bungee jumping the first time was but it got a bit old by the 3rd. Still fun though gotta say.
With bass jumping though u get the rush as u see how high u are. The rush as u think about the fact your going to jump off. The HUGE rush as u run towards the edge, the ridiculas one and the overcoming of ur fear as u throw yourself off. The crazy rush as your falling followed by that huge relief as u glide down slowly.
-
Bass jumping
Can you tell me what it is exatlly?
When you jump tied to an elastic ?
-
Base jumping is throwing your perfectly sane self off a building with a parachute. Or a very high rock. Or a very high bridge. Or anything that is firmly attached to the ground with enough heighth to allow the parachute to open properly.
Sounds like fun... :-X

wow.
That was a gorgeous picture.
I wish u had a full sized version of it so I could make it into my desktop background.
I really want to get certified, I just TOTALLY cant afford it.
-
That was a gorgeous picture.
agreed, wish it would fit my desktop
-
Cmagic - where'd u get it from?
Maybe if they have a few I could make a half decent wallpaper from it.

Ah :)
thanks for that - managed to get through it even without speaking french.
That was the only pic like that one :(
Just stick to my quiksilver wallpapers for now I guess.
They're pretty cool.
-
well there is alot of base jump pictures on the net i just did a search and some look real nice.
I don't think JimH is a base jumping kind of guy.
Maybe sailing and hiking
I think he likes the Bahamas because the water is so clean there and it is more relaxed.

Hi folks,
I think I found our sailor !
I was walking down the streets of Paris yesterday when I noticed a strange guy on a bike. He was riding just like if he's spent a few weeks onboard a boat with violent storms and hughes waves. I approached him so as to help the poor guy trying to lock his bike by a tree on the pavement.
As I got closer to te biker, I said to myself: "Bon sang je connais ce mec ! / Man, this guy looks familiar !".
" On dirait Jim / He looks like Jim"
Here is a picture :

Yes it was Jim, riding the streets of Paris.
Folks, it looks like the boss will soon be back to Minneapolis, full of energy and in great shape.
It was a pleasant surprise to find Jim on my way yesterday but I'll let the boss tell you the rest of the story...
Thanks :)

Thanks to Christian, I managed to get the bike locked and have a couple of beers with him. The beer still tends to slosh around in the glass (I think).
We had a "light" dinner and talked a lot of nonsense (at least I did).
Thanks also to Christian, I have a couple of bottles of good French wine for Team JRiver. I hope I can keep them corked long enough to get them home.
I will have to wait to post the handsome pictures of Cmagic until I'm back in the U.S. My computer is not speaking to me at the moment.

Damn Jim,
U get around.
U seem to be doing a good job of making the most of ur life :)
Good on u!
Now your on our time zone where ur team are all asleep in bed and we're all sitting here waiting to play with new builds etc :)
