Title: Read-only Authenticatrion
Post by: rossp on June 21, 2017, 04:23:38 am
Hi Guys, Is this what I think it is. Clients will be read only to the entire library server?
If so this is a great addition. How do you use it, when my client connects (via ssl, another great addition) no user name is required.

When this works just this function justifies V23 for me :)

Use...

Username: readonly
Password: readonly

But the client never asks me for a username.

I thought clients were always read-only unless you enabled authentication?

They are. The read-only option is to allow read-write access for some users and read-only access for others at the same time.

Sorry, I realize that post wasn't clear now - I was responding to rossp's post asking why he's never asked for a username.
If he doesn't have authentication enabled, his clients will be operating in read-only mode already, with no need to use the read-only login.

I have authentication enabled, how do I set the username to readonly on the client?

OK worked it out. The client had cached the read/write access and so I had to change the password for this and then the username box appeared on the client.
