Title: Can MC9 transfer songs from iPod to computer?

I have heard yes and no?  Which is it? How can I do this?

Yes it can. First browse to the iPod under the CD, DVD & Handhelds tree. Next select the tracks you want to download then right click and select Download to PC. After you then specify a folder to download to the tracks will download. You then have to import them into the MC database using the Import Media option for MC to be able to play the files. Finally you can move them to the correct storage folder by going to the Auto Smartlists (music) > Recently Imported -- imported today smartlist then right clicking on them and selecting Library Tools > Rename Files from Properties.
