Hi altogether,
I'm new to the forum but I'm using MC since the version MC21.
I'm currently using MC 22.0.93 with a Macbook Pro mid 2010 (with 8 GB RAM and 550 GB SSD; you can see the details in the attachment). OS is updated.
The Macbook is fed by a Sinology NAS.
MC 22 is shutting down about every half an hour without any evident reason. I practically use my old Macbook only for audio, so no other programs are running during audio playback.
In the attachment you can see the error message: Sorry for the Italian message which means that there was an unexpected shut down of MC 22. I you want to reopen it please click ...
The problem occurred the first time some months ago and it occurred also with previous OS versions.
Has anybody an idea what's the fault?
Thank you very much for helping!
Martin

You might have some bad files that are crashing MC. That's a common cause. You should enable logging, and then, once a crash happens, collect the logs. You can find instructions on how to do that here:
https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Logging
Good luck.
Brian.

A power saving mode on the computer might also cause a problem.
-
Thank you very much to both of you!
I'll check it and revert.

I noticed every once in a while mine doesnt play, hit the play button nothing happens. Only happened a couple times in 23 tho. Log off and back on and it works again, problem is, that is when i revert back to the wasapi can't play in 44.1 fun stuff. uuugh. Hopefully u got your stuff figure up, i will enable logging as well.

All power-saving options were already switched off.

I created a "fresh" log file just a few minutes before the crash. I try to send it to you (it's just 100kB).

Here it is! ::)

Hi, do you already have any news on my issue?? ?
-
I read through your log file, but was not able to find any clues as to what might be wrong. I'm just a customer of JRiver; not an employee. My knowledge of JRiver log files is limited. Hopefully someone else, JRiver staff, or customer, will know more.
Good luck!
Brian.

All power-saving options were already switched off.
Check the BIOS for USB settings.
The 30 minute aspect really points to a power saving problem.
Network hardware can also go into a power saving mode.

Thank you very much Brian for all the help!
I'll check again in the USB settings.... I hope I'll find something. I never had this issue in the past with MC 21 and early 22 versions (with the same NAS and same DAC)... so I'm completely clueless.... I hope MC 23 will solve the issue ::)

Check the network device, too.
Check the NAS, too.

I checked all settings, but didn't find anything that could have forced MC to shut down.
I just installed yesterday the Beta version of MC 23 and MC was stable for 1 hour and then shut down as before (MC 22 shut down after about half an hour)...
Any other idea??

Sorry to report that MC (upgraded a couple of weeks ago to MC 23) is still shutting down. I could not find any indication in the energy saving settings. I switched everything off... but MC is still unstable.
Today, I recognized that during the 3 hours I was listening, the time span between the single out-downs became shorter. In the end MC out down about every quarter of an hour.... honestly it's getting quite annoying... ::)
Any further ideas?

I re-read your log file. I'm not sure you actually captured a crash. I don't see ANY media files being played.
Turn on logging.
Wait for the crash.
Open MC and collect the log ZIP file.
What is your playback device? Internal sound card of the macbook pro? External USB DAC? Network based renderer?
Have you tried playing from local disk instead of from the NAS?
Brian.

I was having a similar issue. It was crashing on both Mac & PC, very regularly. I nearly moved on to another software, but I read somewhere (here) to consider discontinuing "Auto-Import" (File > Library > Import)
When I disengaged, MC returned to begin extremely stable, on both platforms.
Now I just run the Import function every so often.
