First time I've seen this. MC is failing on a BD Rip part way though (on 2 x discs and at exactly the same time). Tried ripping one at a time - fail. Tried using the AnyDVD UI and that worked fine (2 x rips at the same time) so it is not the discs. Log attached.
Thanks
Nathan

Hi Nathan, same over here. I was starting to think I'm the only one with this issue.
Never had this problem before.
And indeed the rip works when using the AnyDVD Interface itself.
No one any hint or clue why ?
Thanks.

Did AnyDVD get updated?
I don't think we've worked in the BD area for a while.

Hi Jim, thanks for your reaction.
RedFox released an update somewhere last week. But I've noticed this issue already at the beginning of MC23, so earlier as the recent update of AnyDVD.
Something most be off, as when using its own UI every rip is successfully done.
Thanks for your input or help gents.

Lots of updates here (Windows, MC, AnyDVD, DrivePool etc). I'm also seeing MC's GUI stall a lot when analysing / initiating a rip of BDs (the GUI does come back and if another drive is ripping then that is also unaffected). As the decrypted BD is available and the AnyDVD GUI can rip it, I'm wondering if it is another process in MC that causes the copying process to abort. I could not see anything obvious in the logs but I'm not sure I'm looking in the right places either.

All MC is doing is copying files from the BD. AnyDVD is making it possible to read them.
It could be MC, but we haven't been doing any work in this area.

I understand which is why it is odd that it failed on a couple of discs in MC but not with the AnyDVD UI... anyway hopefully a look at the log will help confirm that.

I also found a bunch of my latest rips did not have any format Meta Data (Compression, FPS, Bit Rates etc) and doing a Update Library (from tags) was not reliably populating it and also causing MCs GUI to stall while trying to get this info.
In doing some more testing across MC versions and with various utils and process on/off in MC I "think" both issues are caused when the HDD is slow to respond when it is busy with other tasks (it's Response Time blows out) that MC then cancels the process.
For me it could be unusual combination of doing all the following at the same time on a single 8TB Seagate SMR Archive Drive in my drive pool:
- Doing a drive pool re-organisation (consistent writes to this drive)
- Trying to rip to and read info from this drive
- Playing content from this drive
Prior to posting, I had tested turning the Drive Pool re-organisation off and was still getting trouble from MC trying to rip the BDs. In more reading on how these SMR drives work they apparently have a 20GB (ish) write cache to buffer the slow SMR writes and as I'd been hammering it with constant writes for hours. I'm guessing it was full and still trying to write data out while I was asking MC to add more stuff to it's queue.
Anyway - that my guess for now. Lets see how it goes.

Great day gents, any light onto this issue ?
Till today, incl v23.0.30, i'm not able to finish a DVD rip with succes.
Every attempt to rip a DVD within MC comes back with "failed to rip - deleting of file..."
For each disc i'm trying to rip i'm giving MC a go, but end-up using AnyDVDs UI direct.
So there's a work around, but then you need to import and set the meta tags afterwards = less attractive and not WAF.
-No one noticing the same issue ?
Fyi, Audio CD's do rip perfectly within MC.
Thanks !
