My first recollection of him was his lead role in Space: 1999.

The SFX were pretty wizz bang at the time ... before I start to feel old, I can say that I didn't know about his role in Mission Impossible until decades later.

He played in a lot of movies also One of them being Cleopatra (1963 film) that I watched again a day before his death.
