Title: Playing .dsf files in synthesized multichannel
Post by: Jack McCue on July 29, 2017, 02:20:52 pm
I have a multichannel setup and like to play 2 channel music files with synthesized 5 channel output ("specified output format" under Mode in the DNLA options). Except for 2-channel SACD recordings (usually .dsf files), which will play only in the "original format" of 2 channels (under Mode in the DNLA options). Am I missing a trick, or is this a limitation of 23? If so, any chance it will get fixed in future updates?

Due to the DSD format, doing any processing on DSD files requires too much compute power to be practical. You need to convert to PCM to do any processing like you suggest. There is nothing MC can do about this, without converting to PCM. If you want to use  DSP to go from 2 to 5 channels you are going to have to convert to PCM.
