Recently installed JRiver on my old Dell laptop upgraded the RAM and installed SSD drive and can't be more pleased with the performance.
I have the laptop connected to my DAC using USB. Only drawback is if want to skip a song I need to get up and tap my laptop which is across the room. Can I use my iPad to do this and if so which App do I need to use to control the music at my laptop through my iPad. Thanks, Paul

JRemote will do what you need....
http://www.jremote.net/

There are other (free) options, but this is by far the slickest option available. Well worth the $10 asking price.
If you have an Android device available, Gizmo is on a par with it, and is free.
Both apps are supported by JRiver.

Thanks, I'll look into it

Or install realvnc and the matching app and simply connect via remote desktop.

When it works or you can get support. My JRemote is not working and I posted on the Remote board here with no replies. It's pretty frustrating not to get any tech support.

Had to work a bit to find it...
I am running JRiver 21 and have JRemote on my iPhone. It loads the library on the phone but when I ask it to play a file I get the following message: "Audio Streaming Error: There was a problem playing the current audio file." I don't have any issue playing files when controlling it from the Windows PC.
What am I doing wrong?
My reply:
Could you start a new thread for this?
Could you include more information too? I'm thinking things like:
Are you inside your home network using WiFi or outside using 4G?
Filetypes involved? Does it matter if you try a different one?
Are you trying to play on the iPhone, or on the server PC?
