Title: Cover art and metadata for non english languages
Post by: kolia on August 15, 2017, 01:31:18 am
Hello,
While MC 23 development is on going, would it be possible to retrieve cover art and metadata in a language other than English when such data exist?
Thank you

where would this data come from?

there isn't a tag in google image to only show images with spanish captions (for example), so i can't see this one being simple

where is MC receiving the metadata information? If it's only TMDB, there is for example german cover art and metadata information
https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/629-the-usual-suspects

You can switch the language on the globe icon, so it should be possible in the api too.

The next version of MC will support selecting a language for retrieving metadata, if the metadata provider offers a simple language choice.

I am quite interested in this. After a search in the release threads I found this:

23.0.38 (8/18/2017)
1. Fixed: "Get Movie & TV Info" properly handles Unicode sequences in the TheTVDB result.
2. NEW: "Get Movie & TV Info" now offers a language choice for metadata lookup (currently available with TheTVDB and TheMovieDB).

Has anyone already gained experience with it?
Does it work as expected, also for covers/posters?
I am still on MC20 and need a reason to upgrade at some time ;-)

I would be happy to get some more information. Thanks.
