Hi all:
Anything going on with YADB? I'm getting a failure to connect message.
Please let me know.

Is it still there? Anyone else?
I'm doing some work on the system, but last time I checked it wasn't overloaded.

I had problems with MC9 crashing whilst trying to connect to YADB between 9pm and 12am GMT last night. MC9 tried to connect to the database, gave and error message to say it couldn't connect then crashed to desktop. I was using version 9.0.175.
-
I'm still getting this issue today when I try. :-/
Any help?
-
Does it happen every time (with different CDs, including some you know are in the database)?
j
-
I reduced the load on the server, that might help.

I find it a bit hit and miss - there are spells of 10-20 mins when I get repeated failures to connect. Clicking "cancel" during the look-up process will cause a Media Core crash about 50% of the time.
However your new "fuzzy logic" amendments have worked well for me. Now getting 75% hit rate when I can connect. Which given my obscure tastes in music is very good indeed!
Thanks for your efforts on this one.

You are welcome.
Check the time when it fails, if it is between 3 minutes and 10 minutes past the hour, it is probably from load on the server.

I just did the following:
1. Started MC9 after a fresh reboot. It went straight to CD, DVD & Handhelds. The CD was empty and my iPod was not connected.
2. Inserted a CD in my PC for the first time.
3. Click on the CD drive in MC9.
4. After about 1 minute of saying that it was gathering information and updating the view MC9 said that it couldn't connect to YADB. I clicked on OK and MC9 crashed.
5. I restarted MC9 and it instantly identified the CD.

I've just reproduced the same problem after a clean reboot with another new CD.

Yes, this is still happening. I'm trying to get it to download the albumn information for me to record cassettes to MP3s. It's worked over a hundred times in the past, but just yesterday quit working.
Any ideas? :'(

Hi AaronAve,
I missed the pertinent detail: album info to rip cassettes to MP3. I'll test this tomorrow, the recent changes might have broken this.

Hi John,
Still no love trying to connect to look up tracks from Cassettes I am trying to rip.
Any help?

Hi John,
Still no love trying to connect to look up tracks from Cassettes I am trying to rip.
Hi Aaron,
Try again, and I'd suggest trying Exact Match first. Let me know if that works please.

Hmmm, well, it's working now. I'll let you know if it breaks again. I tried it like 10 times, but now it works!
Like taking the car to the shop to have them fix a rattle...they can never find it, as soon as you drive away, there it is again! :P
Thanks!

maybe they should get another $30,000 server?
-
Hey. Why not three or four? ;D

Hi all:
This is happening again. I've tried about 20 times this morning to try and connect to get album information so I can rip some cassettes...no luck.
Any news?

Hi Aaron,
It looks like the search is taking longer because we have more CDs. I'll work on this, should be ready in a day or so.
j

Hah, I lied, it's fixed.
You might notice a slight difference in speed too.
