Support
I raised the issue with switching TV channels in JRiver when I first started using it years ago, being slow with blocky audio and video until finally channel change completed. I have just put up with it believing it was probably my freesat card or hardware.
I have recently been playing around with Kodi and using NextPVR as the TV backend on exactly the same hardware as JRiver, the channel switching speed with Next PVR and Kodi which are both are free of charge is simply electric compared with JRiver which I pay for. there is no blocky video or audio when switching and is easily 5 to 6 times faster. Can this be looked at please as now I have seen what a channel switch can be like, when I use JRiver it is really annoying.
Thanks
Tony

What version of MC are you using?

I'm Using Version 23.0.45
Latest and greatest.
I have a Blackgold Freesat card.

Hi Tony;
Same problem here... for years & years. Very slow channel switching & blocky video. Also sometimes the sound lags behind after a channel change.
Problem has been a sore spot for me for many versions of MC going back at least 3 years on different hardware & different versions of Windows (8.1 Pro & Windows 10 Pro).
Have done a large thread on the subject about 18 - 24 months ago but no real resolve for me to date. So far I have just put up with it.
Windows Media Center (on Windows 8.1) always changed channels very fast & reliably so I am still mystified why MC can't do the same.
Hope you have better luck in getting a real resolve then I did.

'Tis true. Changing channel is a bit messy compared with other software. When watching a channel and changing, I get a repeat of the last couple of seconds of the channel I'm leaving, then a bit of stuttering video for the next channel for a second or so, and then the new channel starts and runs normally.
It works but it doesn't look nice. In an ideal world, it would be tidier, but I can live with it. Perhaps by v 23 it should be better?

+1 here.
Have mentioned this also to Yaobing when i started to use MC.
As i've been awaiting till v23 was released - as i wanted to use Sat-IP TV server in combination with encrypted channels.
So unfortunately i can't compare with previous versions of MC or different hardware.
Maybe Yaobing can shine us a light onto the differences between MC and WMC (and others) ?
Hoping something which can be tweaked onto a future release ;D
At least i confirm Sat->IP suffers from the same not-so-clean effects when switching channels.

SOLVED within the latest built of MC23 !
Many thanks to Yaobing !!

Wow! Latest version 23.0.59 (64bit) channel changes are great. Even changing channels from guide is good (used to show spinning cursor for 3 seconds with madVR on).

Wow indeed!! This is a lot faster!
However in my case where 4 Hauppage TV Tuner cards are used + 1 Colossus the channel change from one card to another is still slow.
Realising it probably can't be as fast as when using the same card anyway this can be improved as well?
Thx

Yes Agree with the quicker channel change (on a single pc with server/client) , but when theres one pc acting just as a server and another pc just acting as a client channel change is about 8-10 seconds does'nt seem that there is any progress in the server / client's like as ive mention to fix long channel delays. Be great to get this too a least 3 sec's like other htpc front ends that can run a client server config , ie kodi, mediaportal, nextpvr.
