Title: Command for client to see new server files
Post by: kensn on September 02, 2017, 05:23:06 pm
I have searched but can't seem to find how I get a client to see newly added Server files with restarting the client.

Best solution I could think of is to create a button in theaterview to Restart MC (not the PC). It's easy and works for refreshing newly added files and cover art. See screenshot in this post:

I am currently restarting MC, not the pc. I was hoping there was a mcws or similar type command that could be executed from within a client to avoid restarting MC.

Be nice if there is. It's been on my wish list (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,104945.msg729807.html#msg729807) for 15 months and I even asked for it in a "too easy" thread before that. No one came forward until recently with the restart MC button "solution".

I assume you have Authentication turned on in the Server settings? "Options > Media Network > Authentication".

Also sync turned on in the Client settings? "Options > Media Network > Client Options (when connected to a Library Server) > Auto sync with server" ticked.

MC should then sync the Server and Client on a "regular" basis. I don't recall the definition of "regular".

The restart MC solution is pretty quick, and can be added as a Theatre View menu option, or a remote control button (with some caveats).

If your configuration is correct, and you don't want to use the restart method, there are two MCC Commands that may work, 20026 and 20032. I haven't tested them, and I don't know exactly what they do. They are under the "File" group of commands, so they may just sync the selected file. You will need to test. https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Center_Core_Commands#File

Share the solution if you get it working.

Authentication is turned on, although I have just started using it. I will check the Auto Sync setting.

I think I will play around with Library Load mcws command also to see if that might do it.
