Title: iPod and forced format
Post by: Rollerball on June 30, 2003, 10:08:27 pm
I downloaded MediaCenter to try with my new new iPod.
Why must I format my iPod again and loose all my songs?
It's already a windows iPod.
This is not a trivial matter as I have 27 Gigs on my 30 Gig iPod and using the software that came with it, this was a nightmare to accomplish and it took forever. This it what prompted my to try MediaCenter.
Will this formatting force me to use Media Center exclusivly?
I need a good reason before I reformat because if I need to switch back it's going to be a real pain.

I use MC and my iPod and it works great.  I believe you must format your iPod with MC though, otherwise it will not work with it.  If you have your music backed up on your computer, you can easily transfer it back with MC.

Rollerball,

There is no standard for how to handle the iPod. Apple does not make any information available. MusicMatch's way of solving the connection to iPod could be argued to be a standard, but many people are disatisfied with them.  What program have you been using? If Ephpod, we will probably work without a reformat. If XPlay, probably not.
