Not sure if others will be able to reproduce this. I actually need to do more to try and reproduce it. I think it occurs immediately after the first comskip marker. Basically the show is playing, then it skips through the first commercial marker, and now if I try to use the Left Arrow or Right Arrow to jump forward or back, nothing happens- the show continues to play without jumping forward/back. Doesn't matter how many times I press the L/R Arrow, the show won't skip forward/back.
It's not a Harmony remote issue because when it happens I can grab the GF's standard remote and won't work either. Also, I can see the little red LED on the IR receiver flickering when I am pressing the buttons, so the PC is getting the signal.
So far I have tried the Pause button, which still works, but after coming out of pause, the L/R Arrow buttons still don't work. The L/R Arrow buttons won't work until I press STOP, then play, then they will be working for the rest of the show. Or if I press STOP, I can then navigate around in Theaterview and the L/R Arrow buttons work just fine.
And the L/R Arrow buttons keep working until I play another show and get through that first commercial marker, where they (may) stop working again. I guess next time it happens, I will try other buttons like FF/REW or or Up/Down or Back or Guide etc.

still investigating.
I thought I saw it happen one time, but can not repeat.
-
This is getting really annoying. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day, I have to press STOP then resume playing to regain functionality of jump forward/back buttons.
-
I have not been able to repeat this, unfortunately.
-
i see this happen at least several times a week. It isn't limited to just TV recordings though, as I've see it happen with many different video file types.

All involving ComSkip?

Noticing that sometimes the issue can happen BEFORE the first comskip marker.
I'm disabling Event Ghost for a few days, see if that has any affect. If it still happens, I will check if keyboard jump commands function when the remote issue is happening.
PS: ONLY reason I use Event Ghost is for MC auto comskip disable/enable command. Event Ghost sends CTRL+K and then up arrow, which pops the MC progress bar, telling me the command was sent to MC. If you can somehow make the MC disable/enable comskip command also pop a notification (similar to audio sync+- pop up), I would consider ditching Event Ghost completely.
PS 2: Figured out a way for my harmony remote to have MC toggle comskip then pop the info bar - https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,111678.0.html

I'm not using ComSkip, but see the same problem with the jumps not working.

Still occurring v24.0.52
Happened two times in the past week, while watching recorded shows. And just happened while watching Live Tv that was paused/time-shifted. The jump forward and back would not work, AND new information - the up and down arrow keys would not work either to pop up the progress bar/show info. Was limited to using fast forward and rewind until I stopped the time-shift.
EDIT: Just happened again - the up/down/left/right and Ok(center) buttons all stop working.
-
I wonder if it is a windows focus issue.
When it happens, try clicking inside video window.
-
Hmm, but when this happens, all other buttons work like pause, stop, info, back, guide, etc...

Same here. It definitely isn't a window focus issue - that was one of the first things I checked the first time it happened to me.
-
The reason I asked about focus was that it was the only way I could reproduce the issue.
Here is what did to get it:
- play in windowed mode (not full screen).
- use mouse to click progress bar (to seek)
- without clicking anywhere else, press left or right arrow (on keyboard or remote control), no jumping occurs.
I always get the function back after clicking inside video window after the above.
I know that one usually does not do that sequence, but that is the only sequence that produce the issue for me.

How I reproduce it is:
- From TheaterView, use the remote to navigate the views to find what I want to watch
- Use the remote to initiate playback of a video file (doesn't matter if it's a TV recording or some other video file)
- While watching the video, just use the normal operations I normally use to pause, resume play, skip ahead, skip back, etc.
During the above, the up/down/left/right buttons will randomly stop responding. When this happens, I have never been unable to stop the video and then resume play, at which point the up/down/left/right buttons start working again.
The problem happens at least several times a week, but I definitely can't reproduce it on demand which obviously makes it more complicated to resolve.
The remote I use is a Crestron control system connected to MCEController (via TCP/IP connection) running on the PC to mimic keyboard commands to control JRiver. However, I have reproduced the problem using the actual keyboard to eliminate Crestron and MCEController as the problem. When the problem has happened in the past, I have tested switching Window focus to a Notepad window a few times to confirm that the keyboard commands coming from MCEController are actually doing what they're supposed to do.

Happened three times in the past week.
Fastest way to recover when buttons stop working:
-press BACK button
-press GREEN button
Arrow buttons will now work normal again.

Yeah, still happens multiple times a week for me as well. It's REALLY frustrating, so I hope @Yaobing can reproduce it and fix it at some point. It's understood that it's exceptionally difficult to fix something you can't reproduce and it's also difficult to confirm a fix for an intermittent issue, but here's hoping...

Occasionally the Stop button stops working for me (playback does not stop). Pressing enough other buttons eventually restores operation. Happens on two PCs, used only in Theater mode.
