When I first installed MC 9.1.205 I got a...
Media Jukebox has encountered an error & must be shut down message. I ignored it & MC came up & has been running ok.
However now all my PDF files will not open in Acrobat Reader. Windows keeps trying to install a Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer.msi which it can not find. It is also not on my Win XP Pro disc either.
There is a Windows Journal Viewer folder under C:\Programs Files but the missing Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer.msi is not one of the files.
I tried to re-install 205 & got the same Media Jukebox has encounter an error & must be shut down message.
I reinstalled 204 which went in ok without the error message but I still can't read PDF files. Each time I try to bring one up I get the whole Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer.msi message all over again as Windows trys to install it.
What has happened & how do I fix it. ? ?

I have. Same problem... it also wants the Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer.msi but can't find it.
I'm also having another problem that started at the same time...
Each time I try to go to a Web page link like the one that notified me via e-mail of your response I get a window that pops up titled Locate Link Browser but there are no files name shown.
Also some of my web links in another program stopped working. I can re-install the same link but it just acts totally dead like I am clicking on thin air.
Been working on garbage like this for 28 years now (1975) & am sitll dumbfounded as to how windows is so totally screwed up. Horah Bill Gates >:( >:( >:(
Aint Windows totally grand ? ::) :P :-/ :-[

Hi guys;
I'm back ;D
In case anyone had not noticed, I was gone for a couple of days.
The Windows Journal Viewer.msi made a total mess of my operating system. Have no idea where it came form or how it got on my hard drive but it really did a number on me.
A lot of other weird things started happening like I cound not get into the Windows XP Restore screen & my internet would not run to name a few.
I tired an XP update but no help. Then tried XP Repair... no help. Finally did a complete new install with a format of the hard drive... that fixed it.
There were no drive problems & no virus... just Window Journal Viewer messing around with me.
Boy... I can't wait to get my hands on the latest MC 9.1 Missed a few versions.
HAPPY AT LAST ;D ;D ;D

Welcome back !!!!
A clean install .. BEURK...!!!
It takes so long to set back all..
It is a real pain in ..somewhere.
Anyway if it was the only solution , and all fine right now...
I can have a very very very cheap XP [ a legal one] .
But i still do not know what to do.. only to think about the clean install make me feel to stay with W2000

I decided this time that I would NOT install any of Microsoft's Win XP updates (critical or otherwise). I also did not install SP1.
In the past 12 years that I have been using Windows I have NEVER found any improvement in stability, realiability, speed improvement or any other kind of improvement after installing all of Microsoft's updates.
I did look at the Microsoft Update site just to see if there was anything that I might benefit from. There were 64 updates for my system.
I very carefully looked at each one & guess what I found... ?
Yep, you guessed it... Windows Journal Viewer.msi... the very thing that caused all my problems in the first place.
Now I know where it came from... right from the Microsoft update site >:(
This makes about the 3rd time that Microsoft has put an update on their site that caused problems for a lot of users.
One of the updates actually said it was to resolve a problem with a previous update.
Buggy software & buggy updates
Way to go, Microsoft >:(

To be fair to M$ Doc, this particular update (the Journal viewer) does clearly say that is for those people who want to read journal files from a tablet PC on their desktop. If you do not have a tablet PC I see no reason why you would have chosen to install it. I always read the descriptions of the updates carefully after being burned in the past and only install stuff that I think is absolutely essential.

Yeh... I hear you but (and this is very BIG BUT) according to Microsoft, ALL the updates on the Update site should be ONLY for my computer. Otherwise why do I always have to let the site "find" the updates for my computer ?
This update should never of been avaliable for my computer >:(
