Title: Upgrade from JRiver 20 or not ?

Hello guys.

Sorry if this question already was, but I was trying to search it :)

Questions is: is sound different from jriver20 to jriver 23 version ? Better ? Worse ? Or something ~equally ?

I thinking about upgrade to v23 from v20.. But I do not need some modern functions, just audio playing needed. It is used for audiophilleo sound system.

I use ASIO / WASAPI, buffers - low, dither OFF.

Please, no theory, interested in real comparing side to side, thanks.

Sounds the same to me, which is a good thing (since IMO sound is as good as it gets as long as you're outputting bit-perfect audio).

There have been very useful audio related features that have been added since MC20, including the SoX resampler (if you do any resampling) and TPDF dithering (if you do any dithering, which by the looks of it you don't). There's also memory playback options, including the new option to load a full album (not decoded) into memory with MC23. Also MC23 is the first with a 64-bit version available for Windows but that hardly would affect the overall sound quality. ;)

I'd recommend just downloading MC23 and trying the 30 day trial after making a library/settings backup in MC20 and restoring it in MC23 and see how it sounds to you? IMO, that's better than asking for anyone else's opinions regarding sound quality when you can just simply find out for yourself. :)

Just up-graded from MC 22 to 23 64 bit. I don't know why but it sounds so much better in my system.
More bass more dynamics, i'm happy with it :-)

The only problem i have is that some songs start a fraction too late, only with the USB connection.
I think that is an issue with my DAC.

I had plans to buy the Auralic G2 but i'm not sure now...

Welcome to the forum.

MC has an Audio option called "Play Silence at Startup.  That should help.

I tried that, but that is only for when you start a new tracklist, but i have it in between songs. I'm struggling with it for a long long time. I have this problem also with an Aurender streamer. The only thing that works is to connect it with the spdif connection.
