Title: Trying to play a dsf file
Post by: SilverLitz on September 19, 2017, 04:52:35 pm
When I tried to play dsf file, I get the following error:
Playback could not be started on output 'ASIO' using the format '176.4 kHz 2ch'

I had no problem playing on MC23v59 32-bit.  I have been using ASIO for my DAC is MC18 and it automatically gets set when I update, except for MC23 64-bit.

When I looked at Audio Device, I did NOT see an ASIO option.

I see Kernel Streaming and WASAPI options for Audio-gd.  Both seem to work OK.

What happened to ASIO?

PC is Win7 Pro 64-bit
DAC is AudioGD NFB-28

Did you enable DSD bitstreaming?

I am also missing the ASIO device on my two MC23 64 bit installations on two different computers. I can see it on the 32 bit installations I also have on those two computers and both work.

Could there be a reason why the ASIO driver would not appear under the 64 bit versions? Does it require something special of the ASIO driver?

I only use flac, but for the above how would you bitstream to a device that is not there?

Thinking about it, you might need 64-bit ASIO drivers from the manufacturer(s) though I'm not too sure. However I'm thinking since the majority of media players that use ASIO are 32-bit, the manufacturer(s) might not see the need to release 64-bit ASIO drivers. So you might want to get into contact with them about that and see.

Thank you. I was afraid of that.
