Title: Huge log files?
Post by: Trumpetguy on September 27, 2017, 02:36:40 am
I was tidying my C: SSD drive, and found two files:
..AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 23\Log.txt (1.72GB)
..AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 23\Previous Log.txt (1.68GB)

which take a substantial part of my 120GB SSD disk.

The files exist in the parallel installs of MC22, 21, and 20 also, but substantially smaller:
MC20: 0.9 MB (NB! not GB)
MC21: 21 MB
MC22: 2.7 MB

Is something wrong with my MC23 install? Any way to reduce the file size?

Files get reset when you re-launch MC, so its likely you just re-started old versions of MC a few times when stopping to use them, while leaving MC23 running for longer since its the current one.

For the size issue, check Help -> Logging, there is an option now to cap the log file size.

Maybe you don't need to be running logging and you can turn it off?  Help > Logging > (disable here by unchecking)

Brian.

Thanks, I had no idea logging was on or how to adjust the settings. Now set to be capped at 100MB.
