Title: Amazon Prime Music > web browser not supported?
Post by: wanna on October 01, 2017, 05:37:41 pm
(MC 23.0.52) Opening Amazon Prime Music in the browser tells me "browser is not supported".  I'm not seeing where to change the browser:  Tree>?

Can you change the browser or is there a work around?

Thank you

I don't think that setting is available on the Mac version of MC.  On the Windows version you can choose IE or Chromium.  Chromium is supposed to fix *some* problems with accessing streaming media, I believe.  Based on what I've read here.  I've never tried it myself.

How are you opening Amazon?

I've tried both the Services and Plug-in Amazon Link and the player menu Amazon bookmark.  I can get to Amazon, then to the Prime Music "Listen Now" page.  Clicking "Listen Now" gives the error page.

I've also tried a direct URL in "Manage Links" but I get a blank screen.

I tried the method using Services and then Listen Now.  A new window opened.  Maybe something is blocking the new window?

Maybe better to just use a browser, and perhaps play to the MC WDM driver.

A new window will open up outside of MC if you do it one way.  Another way will keep the window in one tab of MC (the one that gets the error).  I don’t know what would be blocking it.  What browser does MC Mac use?

What I’m trying to do is control Amazon Music playback on my Windows server (which is connected to my audio system) from my Mac laptop.  My Mac laptop is only connected to my Windows server through MC.

I believe it uses the system's browser, which is almost certainly Safari.  You could try Safari outside of MC, just to see what you might learn.

Trying to get Mac to control Windows might be difficult.  Try it on Windows.

Error messages are often wrong.  They don't get tested much.

I can play it in Safari outside of MC, but not to my Windows MC server.  The error message is an Amazon webpage error, not an MC error.

I can't do what I'm trying to do from a Windows PC either (with the browser functioning in MC).  So I guess it isn't possible even if the Mac/Safari browser was opening?
