Title: IPOD 15GB + USB

Does Media Center 9 with the IPOD add-in work with Windows XP + USB2 , or does it only work with FireWire?

It should work with the iPod as long as it appears as a removable drive in WinXP (which you don't need any additional software for).

My 30GB iPod works fine with MC9, but I use firewire ... if you plug in the iPod and it shows up over USB, I would assume that it would work fine with MC9.

Yes, Gordon, I bought one this past week and it worked well.  It also works well, I think, if you just buy the iPod, plug it in, and download the 2.0.1 software from http://apple.com/ipod then start using the MC plugin.
