Title: Magic packets and sleeping servers / clients
Post by: robt on November 17, 2017, 09:27:21 am
Hi all

If I start my client computer with MC set to autorun and access my MC servers library, it will happily wake the server from sleep and all is good.

If I wake my client machine from sleep and the server is also asleep, then the server doesnt wake so I'm assuming that a "magic packet" is only sent when JRiver first starts, not wakes.

So what I want is for the client to send a magic packet to wake the server when it resumes from sleep. Is this possible, or am I missing something?

this has been mentioned in a number of feature request threads, jriver does currently require you to restart the client in order to wake the server

Ok. Noted the reply and thank you.

So, is this something that can be addressed? I cant justify having two machines running for 24 hours a day when I really only use them for 6, and Im sure many users are in the same situation. I can use various WOL clients on my phone or tablet but as ever I'd prefer the functionality to be contained within MC.
