Title: Theatre view crashes, windows disables display adaptor?
Post by: robgil on November 23, 2017, 01:49:05 pm
When I run JR in theatre view mode it crashes almost immediately , the screen goes black. Its hard to get task manager to respond and sometimes I have to do a hard reset of my PC, in device manager the display adaptor is flagged as having a problem, it is Intel HD Graphics 4400, in property's it says that windows has stopped the device because it had a problem, in the PC's notifications it says Display driver failed to start, using Microsoft basic display driver instead, check windows update for newer display driver. There are no windows updates, any ideas?
Running Windows 10, all updates installed.

Sometimes an older driver will work.

It doesn't give me the option to roll back in device manager. The button is grayed out.

Try deleting the device.

I did, twice , it was the only way to get it started again.
Is there a way to prevent windows from switching it off in the first place?

It looks like someone else is having this problem too.

I unchecked disable screen saver in theatre view as I don't use one, I unchecked disable windows media centre as I don't have that either, then I checked experimental opengl, all in the tools, options , theatre view and it seems to be stable, I don't know which of these options made it stable so when I get time I will go through them, fingers crossed it will remain stable.

Install an older video driver directly from the manufacturer.
