Title: Help mirroring my library/re-linking files on two computers
Post by: xj32 on November 27, 2017, 08:56:23 pm
I have media center on my home iMac all tweaked out perfectly. My hi-rez library and non-hi-rez but lossless iTunes library is all on an 8TB Hard Drive. I regularly back those files up to a 5TB drive (iTunes) and a 3tb drive (hi-rez). I want to access said files in media center on my studio iMac but when I make a library backup from my home iMac and then open it up and restore it to my studio iMac, it will not work as the files are now located on two different drives.

How can I relink the files to the library or point media center to recognize them in their new location. If I just re-scan my drives, then I get duplicate files (although one cant find the file), loose linked artwork and tags on DSD and SACD files.

Thanks

It's messy, but you may be able to do it.  Please read Moving Files on our wiki.

It might be easier to make one the server and the other a client and use Media Network.
