I5 6600, Windows 10, SSD for operating system, multiple HDDs with files.
When the import started, it looked like it would take just a few minutes, so I left it. 5 hours later...
Looks like I'm up to 2 or 3 seconds a file at 26,000 files of 30,000. One core is maxed running JRiver at 100%. The SSD system activity is flowing fairly heavily at 10-15MB/sec. Looks like indexing gone sideways.
Is this normal for JRiver?

this isn't normal
do you have "analyse audio during import" turned on?

If it is on, it's accidental. Where's the checkbox? I looked through several categories and didn't find it.

The options page has a search window at the bottom.

Are there any network drives? Or USB drives on 2.0 ports?
-
Perhaps antivirus checking every file in HD and database changes in SSD?

Negative on network drives.
No 2.0 ports on SSD.

Hiding in plain sight! Thx.

It’s hidden in Tools>import then pick the configure import options
Maybe disable a few options and see if that speeds it up
I have 70 k files and I can do a top up import in say 2 mins
The slow bit is the audio analysis
Doing a whole library from scratch could take hours
Knock off analysis, import library , then add in analysis and re import
You will have a working library and analysis will go on in the background
Without that the libray won’t show until everything is done including analysis
