Title: Mooooooooo...
Post by: Matt on June 12, 2003, 08:10:45 am
Check this skin from Nickelfarz out -- too cool! (note: it requires 9.1)

Hello again!

As I threatened to you all with doing some skinning in my first post, here comes the first result. It's strongly influenced by a wish of KingSparta, therefore it's called "KingCow". Maybe even Doof will like it ("Bring me your cows.")...

Of course it's just a first test, my next one will be something more serious for every day use

If that's what you can do for fun, I eagerly await you "getting serious"  8)

The walking cow progress bar and rolling eyes are nice touches too.

Excellent work.

LOL!

Nice skin! Too bad I don't have that song to test it out with. :)

Now, when are you going to come out with something serious?

I'm confused - I thought "I wanna be a cowboy" was a one hit wonder. How do you get a "best of" album for a band that was a one hit wonder?

j (i wanna be a cowboy and you can be my cowgirl...)

Hey Matt, thank you for posting that again! After a look at my weblog i saw there where already over 100 downloads of that file...Ouups :D

Gimme some time, pleazzzzzzzzzzzz :)

After crawling a little bit deeper into the "main.xml" that defines the skin, I saw that there are some things obsolete, some things are missing and some things don't work so far. For example, the "main.xml" allows to define different pictures for the volume and searchbar slider buttons when the mouse is pressed. But the beta versions of MC 9.1 don't use these pictures up to now. In this case, that's why the "volume fly" does not spread the wings and the "searchbar cow" does not takes a surprised look at you when you start pushing them around  ;)

I will collect these items and will post them later...I will take the cows as something to play around with untill the MegaMe-SDK is fixed...

So long - don't forget to feed your cows   8)

We will fix those little problems. Also, take a look at latest build of MC 9.1.199. New item (toolbars) was added to mega-me skinning engine. It should allow you to customize the look of top and bottom toolbars.

Send me an email (nikolay@jriver.com) if you need any other features in the engine. Also, let me know that kind of problems you are having with Metamorphis.

I unzipped the "KingCow" directory under MegaSkins, but even after closing and restarting MC 9.1.203, KingCow is not listed in Skin Manager.  What's going on here?

This Skin is (was) only working with 9.1.196/7/8/9 beta. Since 9.1.200 beta there were made some changes in the MEGA ME SDK, and there maybe will be some more changes to improve the possibilities for skinning...
The cows will come back together with some more skins when "the main GUI changes settle down" (© Matt).

Stay tuned  ;)
