I read through a handful of old threads and am pretty sure the answer to this is no, but never saw it totally called out. Can you use Comskip if you record in JTV format?
I saw an old thread about converting from wtv for Windows Media Center, but assumed jtv wasn't an exact replica of that. Thanks!

I think so.

No.

The only way to use Comskip on JTV files is first to convert them to TS files. Which is possible. See https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=105793.0
Note that there is a compiled version created by Jmone in addition to my batch file version, and there are separate 32 and 64 bit (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,112291.msg776254.html#msg776254) compiled versions.

Thanks! Not sure how I missed that post in searching.
I've got the JTVtoTS.exe working, but I want this all to happen without me intervening. That looked possible with TS files, or WTV files. Using the conversion from JTV, I'd still need to manually execute that, correct?

It may be possible to automate JTVtoTS, just using a utility that watches for new recordings and then executes the program. But I haven't looked into that.
I don't use ComSkip because I just skip the commercials during playback unless I want to trim and keep something, then I convert and use VideoRedo.
