I have a recording from yesterday that should be 30 minutes, but it stops after 15. I look in the log, and it shows Recording Started 7:59 PM, Recording Finished 8:32 PM. I'm trying to pare down the JRiver .log file now to what's relevant, but I don't see anything that seems to tell me why the recording was stopped early.

What tuner do you use?

What tuner do you use?
HDHomeRun of some form or another. Two tuners. I went back and checked - the two recordings in the screenshot occurred on different tuners, so both should have been available.

We have received a couple of similar reports. They all are related to HDHomeRun. So far I have not been able to identify anything within MC that could cause such problem, and I am suspecting this is either an HDHomeRun issue or a network issue. The network card might have fallen asleep, though it is hard to believe.
-
Are they recent reports? I've had this device for 2 years or so and never had it do this, but I updated the firmware in the last few weeks and reinstalled MC + HDHomeRun on a new PC recently.

They were within the last few months.

What version MC ?
If you play the show, is the video normal? how long does it ACTUALLY play for? The timeline might say 15 minutes but let it play, is it actually 15 minutes long?
If you look at the file on the hard drive, what does file created and file modified say? and what size on the disk?
I've had recordings that are only 200MB and 30 seconds long, but MC thinks they are a full hour. I updated to v23.0.91, it has new television dll that (I think) solved some of my recording issues like strange recording sizes.

Good questions
1) MC 23.0.91
2) The video playback stops after 15 minutes. Everything seems normal about it until it stops. The timeline in fact says it's 15 minutes in length.
3) There are several .cnk files dated a minute apart from 8:00PM to 8:13PM. All 175 MB in size. Then the .cnk files stop until 8:32PM, that one is only 72 MB.
Yaobing - I noticed the firmware that I updated to is dated Sept-30-2017. I remember updating it when I installed MC on the new PC because I loaded the HDHomeRun software and it pointed out that it was old. I had never updated it since I had it (that I recall). I'll see if it's possible to roll-back.

FYI - I didn't get around to trying to rollback the firmware and it looks like it happened again (recording stops at 2h 30m, should have gone 3h, log shows the recording happening the entire 3h). This time I do see "catastrophic failures" in the log for tuner 1, but it's at the recording start time and states no available tuner. But it ended up starting a few minutes later anyway, on tuner 0.
Looking back in time it appears there were quite a few catastrophic failures on tuner 1, but tuner 0 doesn't seem to have those errors. Tuner 1 is the tuner marked as recording the Big Bang Theory show that truncated as well. In this case, tuner 0 ended up eventually handling the 3 hour recording that should have occurred.
I'll try rolling back firmware next week if I can. If that doesn't help, it seems to potentially be a problem with the HD hardware.
Edit: It appears you can't rollback firmware on HDHomeRun devices. Whoever heard of such a thing.... If I knew that, I never would have upgraded the device. I might need to find a new piece of hardware, I can't fathom a company not supporting a rollback to prior versions of firmware. That's crazy.

Another update for the next recording. I noticed lots of extra folders in my Live TV folder for JRiver for the 3 hour recording that truncated (attachment 1 & 2, Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints). Then I noticed the same thing for a recording currently in progress. In the HDHomeRun logs I see this:
20180108-05:58:57 Tuner: tuner1 streaming rtp to 192.168.2.101:53125
20180108-05:58:57 Tuner: tuner1 rtp stream ended (stop request)
20180108-05:58:58 Tuner: tuner1 streaming rtp to 192.168.2.101:53125
20180108-05:58:58 Tuner: tuner1 rtp stream ended (stop request)
20180108-05:59:12 Tuner: tuner1 streaming rtp to 192.168.2.101:53128
20180108-05:59:13 Tuner: tuner1 rtp stream ended (new request)
20180108-05:59:13 Tuner: tuner1 streaming rtp to 192.168.2.101:53128
The recording in question is shown in attachment 3. Something happened at 5:59 UTC (9:59 my time). The port changed and JRiver restarted a new folder.
I'm not sure what is to blame here, but this has become completely unusable.

A search of the forum will find lots of troubles with some HDHomeRun tuners.
One of the issues that came out of a couple of threads is that the power supply fails, or weakens, and the HDHomeRun has all sorts of issues because of it.
Is there any chance you could try a new, good quality power supply that has sufficient Voltage and Power to run the HDHomeRun? Worth a try. Even worth buying a new power supply to test. But it must be good quality. The type normally used for laptops are usually good, and if they come with interchangeable tips you should be able to find one with the correct plug option.

Good idea, I'll try a new power supply. May be a week or so before I have good evidence against it, but at this rate, I should know immediately!
