One of my clients got an Id, and we got it all set up, including an external hard-drive with all his existing media on it. We have full control over the unit via Gizmo and JPlay, but in order to load additional music into the server we need to connect to it via another mac on the same LAN. When I try to connect to it via a Windows machine, using the ID# of the the Id as the user name and the connection code (That connects the Gizmo app to the unit) is the password and it works, no problem.
On the Mac, we can see the Id in the network shares, and even see the top layers as a "guest", but when I attempt to connect to it as a "Registered User" using the same credentials as I did in the Windows machine, it tells me the credentials are invalid and won't connect.
is there something else that I need to enable for a MAC to connect to it?

What do you want to do with the Mac and the Id? Are you trying to use the Id as a file server for the Mac? Or do you want to play to the Id from the Mac?
-
I want to be able to see the drive attached to the Id and load music onto it that way.
-
If you have successfully mounted the drive on the Id, then the Id can serve the files to the Mac. On the Mac, in the lower section of Playing Now, you should see something like
Id (Library Server)
Click on it and load the library.

I do understand that, and that is what I expect it to do. My problem is that it won't let me do it via the Mac interface unless I attach to it as a "Registered User", and the UID & PWD for the ID don't seem to work for it.
-
Also, maybe I wasn't clear what I wanted to do. I don't want to play back on the mac from the Id, I want to open the Id in the network places so that when I rip a new disc on my mac, I have a way to easily transfer those new albums to the Id via the LAN.

That may be a Mac message, not an Id message.

Are you trying to connect from within MC? That won't work for saving files. It's a DLNA connection.
The Id supports SAMBA, so you would connect via the Mac's network.
Finder > Go to > Connect to Server

Maybe that's what I'm looking for. I'll try that and report back.
-
We got the same thing, where it needs a password and won't take the Id password.
-
It may be a Mac admin password that is needed.
-
That was the first thing we tried, which didn't work.
What are the default User Name/PWD on the Id?
-
Please search for "password" here:

That's what I'm using, and it just will not connect. It's super frustrating.

On the Id, in MC, try turning on Authentication under Media Network.
