Hello,
I've been having trouble with meta data/tagging my files when ripping cd's. Ripping them works, tagging them before I hit rip disc works, but when I transfer my files the tagging does not move with them. I'm ripping them on my work PC, then transferring them to my hard drive at home, and that's where the tagging gets lost. I think this just started happening after the last update, but could be wrong. I have checked in tools/options/...Manage Library Fields.../ to ensure that the "Save in file tags (when possible)" box is checked for each field, and don't know where to go from there.
-
what type of file are you converting (burning) them to?
-
Ripping from the CD to a flac file on the work PC, then just cutting the file and pasting to home PC
-
so at work your ripping with MC?
-
That is correct, Media Center 23.0.91, both PC's. This has been correctly working for years, so not sure why something has changed recently.

I've been seeing a lot of other posts saying they are also having issues....keep an eye out here on interact, someone else with more insight on this may chirp in...I use separate apps to rip, burn and tag so I don't see what your experiencing. I do know that some tags just don't go inside of flac files and a separate file is created inside of the folder, If you have > hide hidden folders and files checked in windows then I think those files would not past over, but this is just a thought....

I am having the same issue Waltrem24 is having. Everything I ripped in JR tagged properly and I was able to copy and move to other PC's while keeping all tagging through late November. I then started ripping cd's again a few weeks later and none of the tagging is saving properly. This is a critical issue and halted my music curation project. I will check the "hidden folders" on windows. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Trapper Keeper

Same.
If you look in Recently Imported there are a number of tracks that are blank i.e. every tag is blank including filename. The number of these blank tracks equals the number of tracks imported.
.84 doesnt have this problem.

We reproduced the problem and have a fix coming in build 94. Thanks for the help.

Should be working in build 94:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,114006.msg787986.html#msg787986
We believe it only happened when no cover art was found. This made it harder to duplicate.

Thank you. Any idea how long before the update? I have put all ripping on hold so I do not have to redo the tagging multiple times as I have several pc's (office, home, home office and lake house) where I keep copies of my music. Thank you.

Build 94 is out now, click the link Jim posted to get the build with the fix, 23.0.94.

Thank you. I will test it tonight!

Wow, thanks for all the feedback, I will check out 94 as well
