Title: WTV playback and organization
Post by: Cal777 on January 21, 2018, 04:41:09 pm
WMC uses a wtv file container when recording TV programs.  It also organizes those wtv files into Series/Season/Episode automatically, without file structures.  Kodi, Plex and Emby can all play wtv files, but they can't organize them into Series/Season/Episode without renaming the files using a program like MCEBuddy.  You can also convert the files, but it is much more time consuming.

Questions:
Does MC23 play wtv files, and will they automatically organize them like WMC, or do the files need to be renamed?  Many WMC users, who are looking for a replacement, have multiple TB's of TV programs recorded in the wtv file container.

When recording in JRiver MC23, are the jtv files organized automatically, or do you have to manually enter a Series/Season/Episode file structure?

WTV files will play.

If the series/episode/etc info does not populate - it is very easy to use the Tag Editor in MC to fix it.

When recording in MC, all that info is automatic (depending somewhat on what guide service you use in MC).

iDealshare VideoGo can directly play WTV files without conversion on any version of Windows and Mac computer.
It also helps to convert wtv to avi, wmv, mpg, mp4, mov etc in the background.
