Title: Permissions or restrictions
Post by: CHaun on February 07, 2018, 10:39:39 pm
Is there any way to restrict access to certain features based on login to the media server? I'd like to restrict live television from certain computers. The only real restriction setup I can find is read only login and it doesn't seem to have any configuration options.

You can set up Users in MC and restrict what they can see and do. It may be enough, may not. https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Users

Or on a Client you can turn off the TV Feature under "Options > General > Features > TV". I wasn't sure that would work once you connected to a library server, but it seems to. No Guide data is shown, so Live TV can't be launched, and the "Television" navigation item in Standard View is removed. Just be aware that a smart person could still work out how to play a live TV channel. i.e. A playlist of Live TV channels can still be used to launch Live TV.

Is that enough?

It does seem to work with changing the settings on each client. It doesn't work when creating new users with restrictions on the server. It seems like remote library users get whatever profile is currently loaded on the server.

Thanks for the help!
