Title: See Idpi on network?
Post by: Bohemian on February 16, 2018, 03:33:51 pm
This is probably a real numpty question, but I am a novice.

If I connect the Idpi to my network with a cable to the router, would my main pc see this as an addition to the home network?
Would that enable me to load the library for mc23 on it, or would I need to connect the Idpi itself to my monitor?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I don't want to damage the memory card by doing something stupid.

The IdPi card isn't big enough to store much media.  But it can be found on your network.  Microsoft has made some changes to networking on Win10 that prevent it from showing up as a computer, but you can enter the IP address in Explorer to see it.  Example:

\\192.168.0.5

You'll see Internal Storage.  Media goes in the Media folder.

Thank you, Jim.  I was hoping I could load the library etc into the pi copy of MC - the media will be on an external powered usb drive. (its the full-baked idpi I bought from JR.)
I guess I need to connect a monitor to the idpi itself to perform such tasks.

You will probably need a monitor initially.

You can use the USB drive.  Instructions are here:

I'm able to do most things on my networked PC using the free VNC Viewer as long as the IdPi is on the same network. Password is "remote".

You should probably change that password.
