Title: CPU over heats and shuts down PC when running video via DNLA
Post by: agelessgoodguy on March 14, 2018, 04:42:04 pm
Can I please ask what settings to change in MC23 to prevent the CPU from over heating and shutting down the PC without warning when streaming video media?

This started happening about the time I upgraded to MC19 I think. The current video mode in MC23 is the default Red October Standard.

The PC itself has an 8 core AMD FX 8350 processor with 16 GB of RAM I run Win 10,  64 bit

The recent TV series I cannot run for more than about 5-10 mins has a .mkv extension, but I'm not sure that other types don't cause this problem too.

Strangely, if I run the exact same files via Windows media server instead the CPU does not over heat at all.

I Used HW software to monitor the CPU whilst running MC.

Cheers

Here's another thread on an overheating problem.  Maybe you'll find something useful:
