Title: Request for MC 9.1.xxx
Post by: MachineHead on June 15, 2003, 04:26:26 pm
Is there any way to get MC 9.1 to read and add apev2 tags to mp3 files on its own (non third party hacks). In addition to using id3v2 tags for those who want them for whatever reason. It can read them in MPC and APE, why not step up for mp3 as well?

Would this be a tough thing to modify or add? That free player (:B) does this with ease. I think MC should be able to as well.

if you did that then the mp3's maynot be compatable for other players, and in the future you may be left with an mp3 with a non compatable tag.

kind of like what MusicMatch Did

You can have both in an mp3 if you wish.

Mike,
Please give us a week or two to sort out loose ends.

I still have your BBQ wood.

Thanks,

Jim

So what's the Advantage of Having APEv2 Tags?

Jim -

I haven't forgotten.  ;)

Thanks for considering the other.

They can carry the same types of fields without having to be placed like an id3v2. Less evil according to some...

According to those in the know (over at HA Forums - so you can take that for what it's worth), APE2 tags are apparently just an all around better, easier to implement tagging format.

And it would be probably the first commercial program to implement them in mp3's if done. Would help raise awareness for the tagging format which wouldn't hurt.

The problem is not id3V1 but id3V2... that's what i read, some say id3v2 are evil and can corrupt a mp3 i never had such problem.
