Hi,
Can we have the option to delete the actual file from the "Playing now" view or other playlists? Currently I often play an entire directory and sometimes I want to delete the mp3 after listening to it. Now I have to locate the file and then delete but it would be better to use something like Shift-Del to get the remove file dialog.....

Hold down shift while hitting delete.
(we know this is too obscure -- it'll get changed someday)

Let's hope NOT...I/we love this feature (Shift Delete).

i think it is fine the way it is also, but if files are highlighted and the user hits the delete key the menu could come up.

I didn't know this! For me not being able to do this has been one of those quiet frustrations that ya never mention.
Maybe the solution is too obscure?

Thanks a lot, should have tried it that way. :P

It is too obscure. It works for those of us who were around when it was first implemented, or for those masochistic types who have read the entire help file (that statement was in no way intended to reflect badly on Lise, just a statement that reading an entire helpfile, no matter how well written, is often a very tedious venture).
What would work better, and wouldn't really take much extra programming, would be the simple addition of a menu item that reads "Delete from Library" and to change the current Delete to "Remove from playlist".
If you're in a playlist, you have both of these options available. If you're in the library somewhere, then only the Delete option is available.

I always thought "delete" from the Playing Now was a bad label... there's no DELETE of a file going on - just a REMOVE from a list. I can't tell you how many times my wife has deleted a file from the operating system because she usually just deletes from Playing Now but sometimes gets lost - and can't understand why "delete" in Playing Now is good and "delete" in Media Library is bad! I've had to make all my media read-only!
I suggest DELETE should always mean delete at the file system level and REMOVE should always mean remove at the program level (tags, lists etc.)
